Chris Cavanaugh is a Los Angeles–based cinematographer working in feature films and television, known for pairing a dynamic visual style with a distinctive, character-driven perspective.
A 15-year member of the International Cinematographers Guild, Chris began his career as a Digital Imaging Technician, collaborating closely with directors of photography to shape images through lenses, sensors, and color. That deep technical foundation laid the groundwork for his evolution into a skilled Camera Operator and Director of Photography.
His cinematic voice was shaped by mentorship under some of the industry’s most accomplished cinematographers, helping him develop a versatile approach that balances bold visual storytelling with emotional nuance.
Chris has contributed to the look and feel of numerous major motion pictures, including 127 Hours, Star Trek Beyond, and the Fast and Furious series. His television credits include stylized and visually ambitious series such as Legion, Southland, and Pretty Little Liars.
He recently completed second unit photography on Netflix’s The Electric State and is currently filming a thriller feature in Thailand.
